Review of the Professional Day Organized by DRAC PACA on September 24, 2024
On Wednesday, September 25, the Inguimbertine hosted over 60 museum professionals from the PACA region for a professional day focused on optimizing museum storage facilities.
The Ministry of Culture invited these museum professionals to the Inguimbertine for a day of study on the management and optimization of storage spaces.
Roland May, Honorary General Curator of Heritage; Sandrine Vezilier-Dussart, Chief Curator of Heritage and Advisor for Museums in the PACA Region; and Juliette Remy, Curator of Heritage and Head of the Preventive Conservation Department at the Research and Restoration Center for the Museums of France (C2RMF), presented theoretical and practical challenges related to the planning and management of storage and conservation spaces in museums during the morning session.
Aurélie Koecke, Registrar, and Jean-Yves Baudouy, Director, led a tour of the Inguimbertine’s storage facilities, where 130,000 items from the heritage library and museum collections are managed across more than 2,500 square meters. This practical case study of a recently developed facility was followed by roundtable discussions addressing various aspects of storage optimization.
Beyond the educational value of the day, the Ministry of Culture’s decision to hold this event in Carpentras highlighted the recognition of the exceptional work accomplished by the teams at the Inguimbertine and the City of Carpentras in managing and showcasing extensive and remarkable bibliographic and museum collections.
