Outstanding Attendance at the Inguimbertine Library-Museum at the Hôtel-Dieu in Carpentras

The municipality of Carpentras is proud to present the remarkable attendance figures for the Inguimbertine Library-Museum at the Hôtel-Dieu since its inauguration on April 20, 2024.

In just five months, the institution has welcomed 34,245 visitors, demonstrating a clear enthusiasm for this new cultural jewel of our city. Simultaneously, the multimedia library recorded a total of 67,542 visitors over the same period, a notable increase of 6,788 visitors compared to the previous year.

The appeal of the Inguimbertine extends far beyond the borders of Vaucluse. An analysis of visitor origins reveals impressive geographic diversity. Among our international guests, we were delighted to welcome 176 visitors from Belgium, 148 from Germany, and 91 from the Netherlands, to name the largest groups. Additionally, 65 visitors came from the United States and Canada. The most distant guests traveled from Japan and Argentina, highlighting the institution's emerging international reputation.

On a national level, alongside strong local representation with 6,240 visitors from Vaucluse, we observed significant interest from residents of the Bouches-du-Rhône (675 visitors), Gard (424), Paris (405), and Rhône (207). This geographic distribution underscores the Inguimbertine's appeal to both nearby audiences and visitors from across the nation.

The success of the library-museum is further reflected in the exceptional performance of its shop, which opened on April 22. With a turnover of €42,039.79, the average spending per visitor is €2.52, significantly surpassing the national average of €1.30 observed in similar cultural institutions. This result highlights the quality and attractiveness of the products offered, as well as the strong engagement of our visitors with our institution.

The municipality of Carpentras is thrilled by these results, which confirm the relevance of this ambitious cultural project. The Inguimbertine at the Hôtel-Dieu is establishing itself as a must-visit cultural destination, contributing to the vibrancy and renown of Carpentras and the Vaucluse region.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the teams who work tirelessly to make the Inguimbertine an exceptional place, as well as to our visitors, both local and international, for their interest and loyalty.
